A genre-bending action game set in a war torn Japan. Two feuding Japanese clans laying claim to the throne; one side using evil magick to gain an advantage, with the other calling upon a fierce foreign warrior for help. Team Ninja has pulled chapters from the Soulsborne series then mixed it with their Ninja Gaiden playbook. The result is something familiar, yet fresh. Combat is fast, yet sophisticated; ki pulses add a mechanical sophistication. The risks are great and the reward of gear drops is satisfying. Missions take the place of a huge open world. Demons roam the land; it is up to you (The Foreigner) to stop them. The systems in Nioh are complex, and it takes big chances and brings something new to the table while paying homage to a series dear to my heart.
